Most golfers lose control of the golf club before they even get into their golf downswing. The swing plane is too steep and their hands and arms are moving all over the place. Consistency and accuracy are out the window. Having to over compensate at the top of the backswing sucks the power out of the whole golf swing

Fortunately, there are easy to learn solutions to make sure you have a golf downswing that has power, accuracy and consistency.

In spiral dynamics based on an equation known in ancient times as the golden mean which is also known as the perfect ratio the backswing will take sixty two percent of the time to execute the golf swing. That means a slow takeaway. And, the downswing and follow through will equate to the balance of thirty eight percent of the time taken.

What this means is that if you golf swing is in the slot and on plane you will have perfect timing and rhythm. Most golfers do not have a well thought out transition. Like what is the trigger. Is it a feeling in your hands, body or a fleeting thought in your mind?

The last thing you want to be doing is thinking through your golf swing. Yes it is a feeling and the ideal trigger is an in breath on the backswing and an out breath on the downswing out through the ball impact and the follow through to the target.

So, the golf backswing has a natural trigger and transition in the change of breath from the in breath to the out breath. This way you will find your own natural rhythm.

Your body needs to work in sequence rotating around your spine with your chest, shoulders and arms working together as a triangle which will unwind in the downswing starting with the left hip and pulling the upper body through releasing its power.

Power can be added by keeping your wrist flat into the top of the backswing and through the downswing. The average golfer has paid a heavy price with wayward shots by cocking their wrists at the top of the backswing. In some circles this uncoiling is referred to as a kinetic chain reaction. One part following another building energy. Effectively the energy built in the body during the backswing then is accelerated as you move into the downswing uncoiling the energy built in your hips, torso, shoulders, arms and hands along the club shaft to the club head. This generates enormous club-head speed and explosive impact through the golf ball.

Keeping your swing on a plane your body can repeat is the key. You cannot do what you cannot do. If you have short muscles, restricted joints, or injury. Generally it is because of joint restriction and a lack of flexibility and fitness.

You want to be able to have a golf swing you can repeat each time. That maintains strength and power. And, it reduces the number of moving parts in your body hence creating a greater risk of a way ward shot.

Quite simply bend from your hips with a straight spine. This will ensure you are not too close to the ball creating a steep swing plane. Secondly, you want to have a flatter swing plane which can be achieved by playing a three quater shot literally from shoulder to shoulder so you can stay on plane and keep your wrist flat at the end of your golf backswing. It will also allow your hands to stay where they need to be and compensates for reduced spinal rotation.

Lastly, breathe. It will allow you to relax, find your natural rhythm and transition into your golf downswing with strength and power. Simply let the golf clubhead do the work it was designed to do travelling through the ball with a square face to deliver you the distance and accuracy you want.
